Fall and especially Halloween inspired me to play with this Apple Cider Donut Muffin recipe.
One or perhaps two Halloweens when I was a kid, my Mom and Dad set out a table at the end of the driveway and served cider and donuts for Halloween. It was a way to connect with the neighbors and have a chat. Of course, I was off trick-or-treating with my friends, but I remember them having a good time, and the kids happy to get a treat to eat right away.
I admire them for doing this because it was during the Halloween candy scare when we had to check all of our candy before eating it. It was also before people started driving to neighborhoods to trick-or-treat. Instead, it was just the local neighbors and their kids going from house to house. To serve something delicious to neighbors was such a departure.
But these aren't just for Halloween. These spicy apple muffins are perfect for a fall weekend, or easy enough for a weekday morning treat because they bake in only about 15 minutes.
Next time you are craving an apple cider donut, give these a try. I'm sure they will satisfy!
