Baked French Toast Casserole | Appetite for Life

Today, I'm sharing a breakfast revelation, a sweet, golden, utterly decadent experience that came straight from your recommendations. You know I love trying new recipes, especially when they come from you, my amazing readers!

Recently, in the Appetite for Life Facebook Group, Beth recommended Ree Drummond's (The Pioneer Woman, for those playing at home) Baked French Toast

Now, I've dabbled with baked French toast casseroles in the past.  As a matter of fact my Mom had one, but they were just ok.

The morning I decided to give it a whirl, the aroma alone was enough to make my kitchen feel like a cozy, sun-drenched bakery. The layers of soft, eggy bread, soaking up all that sweet, custardy goodness...it's a beautiful sight. But the star of the show, the true game-changer, the reason I'm now a devout believer? That glorious, crunchy, sweet "crumble" topping.

Imagine this: a golden-brown, caramelized crust, just begging for you to dig in. It's like the best part of a streusel topping, amplified and elevated. The contrast between the soft, pillowy French toast and the crunchy, sugary top is pure magic.

Now, I'm a savory-leaning brunch person, usually. But this? It's rich, it's indulgent, and a little truly goes a long way. A small square, paired with a cup of strong coffee, is the perfect way to start a weekend. Or, let's be honest, any day.

I can absolutely see why this recipe is a beloved classic. It's comfort food at its finest, a hug in breakfast form. And thanks to you, I've added a new, delicious recipe to my brunch repertoire.

So, thank you, thank you, thank you! Keep those recommendations coming. You've officially converted me into a Baked French Toast fanatic. And if you haven't tried it yet? Well, let's just say you're in for a treat.

Happy cooking, everyone!
