Cheddar Bacon Soda Bread

This soda bread never disappoints. It is good plain or with soup or salad. Heat up leftovers to enhance the flavor.

Ingredients:

2 cups Flour

½ tsp Baking Soda

½ tsp Kosher Salt

¼ tsp Pepper

½ tsp Sugar

4 oz Sharp Cheddar - shredded

3 slices thick-cut Bacon - cooked and crumbled

2 Green Onions - green part only sliced

¾ cup Buttermilk

Method:

Preheat oven to 400℉ (200℃)

Mix together the flour, baking soda, salt, pepper, and sugar. Toss together with cheddar cheese, green onions, and bacon.

Add buttermilk, and mix until all ingredients are fully incorporated. Form the mixture into a ball and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Make a deep cross cut into the loaf. This allows the loaf to rise.

Bake for 20-30 minutes or until it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. Cool on a wire rack.

Don't want a big loaf? Try baking in a muffin tin and save the individual loaves!

About Me

Hi!  I'm Jen

Cooking is a passion passed down from both of my grandmothers to my mother and then to my sister and me.

Throughout my career, I was always drawn back to food.  I've learned from experienced chefs, apprenticed with professional bakers, and tasted coffee with international experts.

Today I'm sharing those experiences with you.
