I crave salads in the summer. I'm always so inspired by all the vibrant produce from the garden or farmer’s market.


Why Salads are Ideal for Summer

  • Freshness: Summer brings an abundance of seasonal fruits and vegetables at their peak flavor and nutritional value. Salads are a fantastic way to enjoy these fresh ingredients.

  • Light and Cooling: Salads are typically lighter than cooked meals, making them ideal for hot weather. They provide hydration and essential nutrients without weighing you down.

  • Variety: The possibilities with salads are endless! That is what I love the most.  I get bored with the same green salad, so I like to change it up and experiment with different combinations of greens, vegetables, fruits, proteins, and dressings, creating a unique salad every time.

  • Nutrients: Salads are often packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber, contributing to overall health and well-being.

  • Customizable: You can easily adjust salads to accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions, making them suitable for everyone.


Five Refreshing Summer Salad Ideas

  1. Classic Greek Salad: A Mediterranean staple featuring juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, salty feta cheese, Kalamata olives, and a tangy vinaigrette dressing.

  2. Watermelon Feta Salad: A sweet and savory combination of watermelon cubes, crumbled feta cheese, fresh mint, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Similar to my Blueberry & Nectarine Salad.

  3. Thai Mango Salad: This salad bursts with flavors of ripe mango, shredded carrots, red onion, cilantro, peanuts, and a zesty lime dressing.

  4. Caprese Salad: A simple yet elegant Italian salad with layers of ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil leaves, and a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil.
