This version of Teriyaki Chicken Wings couldn't be easier. They are perfect for a gathering because you can marinate them ahead and cook them in under an hour. Plus, by using a bottled teriyaki sauce and frozen wings, you can always have the ingredients on hand.
The Secret Is In The Sauce
Sure, using store-bought teriyaki sauce can seem like cheating, but it isn't hard to make, and adding a few extra ingredients makes all the difference.
The biggest secret ingredients in this recipe are the Chinese Five Spice, Sesame Oil, and Rice Wine Vinegar. Each adds its unique flavor to the chicken wings, making people wonder what's in there or what makes them taste so good.
Personally, I think the Chinese Five Spice makes these teriyaki chicken wings. It is something that we usually don't think about but is probably in a lot of Asian dishes lingering in the background. I love to use it when making an Asian broth for my Soy Ginger Meatball Soup.
